Aqua Art 2023

Show | December 6th - 10th, 2023   

Aqua Art Miami, presented by Art Miami, held its 17th edition at the Aqua Hotel during Art Basel 2023. Aqua is known for presenting vibrant and noteworthy international art programs with a particular interest in supporting young and established galleries with strong emerging and mid-career artists.

 

Over the years, Aqua Art Miami has become a gathering place for collectors, curators and art lovers to discover fresh talent and acquire new works while exchanging cultural ideas and forming meaningful connections. This year, Aqua will also feature a programme of performances taking place daily by a roster of artists exhibiting at the fair.

The Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club will hold its second annual Holiday show. Since moving from New York City to Detroit in 2021 I have joined this amazing group of artists. The Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club meets weekly and cultivates a space for local artists. Participating in this second annual show I included pieces printed on wood and taken in my previous homes, Oahu, Hawaii and Fort Lauderdale Florida.

Las Laguna Gallery is a contemporary and fine art gallery that features art from a diverse group of artists, representing a variety of mediums. ​Las Laguna Gallery is dedicated to the exploration and engagement of contemporary and fine art visual culture - regionally, nationally and internationally, through unique collaborations between artists, students and the community.

The current show has a botanical nature theme and my piece included is "Glimpse of Life" from my 2022 collection Peru: a Historical and Topographical Exploration. This piece was taken at the oasis in the desert of Huacachina.

As a relatively new resident to the state of Michigan it was a joy to participate in a show hosted by The Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club. The Holiday Art Show had a grand opening on December 2nd. This show was in partnership with The Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club and Gallery 46. The show was curated by Detroit’s own Henry Harper and Jaylin Whitfield-Wiggins. The show was so successful that it was extended through January 6th, 2023 instead of the original end date in December.

For this exhibition I was represented by New York Center for Photographic Arts (NYC4PA) at booth 507. It was the debut of using a new medium to present my work. I included two pieces from my collection Peru: A Historical & Topographical Exploration. Both pieces were printed on metallic photo paper and mounted on acrylic with glass overlay.

For this exhibition I was represented by Maria Elena Beneito Art at booth 917. Maria Elena Beneito is the Director of the Biennial Art festival in Argentina. The majority of artists in the group are from South America and my pieces included were also from South America. Both  pieces in this show were from my 2022 collection Peru: A Historical & Topographical Exploration.

Highlights:

  • Our booth won Best International Exhibit

  • I was personally awarded a certificate of excellence in the collection

  • As a collective we will exhibit together again during the Argentina 2024 Art Biennial

For this exhibition I was represented by SHIM Art Network and we were in room 226. SHIM Art Network fills the gaps in the art world, providing digital and analog opportunities and resources to artists, curators, collectives, galleries, universities, and other organizations and affiliations. Shim Photography is based in Brooklyn and all four pieces I included in this show were printed in the SHIM darkroom. This included two images from Egypt and two images from Peru. The piece in the photo above is "Glimpse of Life" from the Peru collection, taken in the desert in Huacachina.

Selected from hundreds of submissions, this show provides the viewer with a journey that includes views and snapshots of both real and imagined places across the globe and even the universe.

Exhibition | September 10th - October 4th, 2022

Jill Krutick Fine Art partnered with several SHIM Art Network groups — ArtCard, Vox Populi Print Collective, Bushwick Darkroom & Printmaking Mezzotint — to debut the exhibition of FIVE exquisite corpse projects involving over 200 artists! Each “corpse” is made up of a grid of artwork done by 40 artists. Collaborative art projects are challenging to pull off — but we did it!

SHIM has established several artist groups who wanted to come together to showcase their talents.

A printed version of this exhibition was on view in Venice from at the Centro Espositivo San Vidal located at campo San Zaccaria during The Venice Biennale of 2022 and is still on view through September 2022.

Exhibition | September 8th - 11th, 2022

The pieces in this collection are from a historical and topographical exploration of
Peru, from pebble beaches in the capital of Lima to 16,000 feet atop Rainbow Mountain and
down to the world wonder of Machu Picchu. Desert Oasis, snow capped mountains and salt mines
are all within the borders of this country and this collection provides a look at the vast beauty of
nature in this South American wonder. If you won't be in New York during the show you can still view the pieces and buy one to add to your collection. The Art Dealer Street link will be added after the fair with any  remaining pieces.

One piece from my Egypt collection is included in this Venice collaborative exhibit. Spazio SV is one of the oldest art galleries in Venice Italy and it is an honor to be a part of this exhibit. Once the exhibit ends the pieces will be moved to a New York gallery.

The Louvre

July 2016

Photographers from around the world will be celebrated in a digital display at the
reception on July 13th at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The
 jury panel will select one photographer to be honoured at a reception hosted at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Louvre is the most visited and most storied museum in the world. This event is being hosted by See.Me.

 

I have been selected as one of the photographers whose work will be displayed with a reception at the Louvre July 13th. Will you be in Paris? Contact me and come check out the exhibit.

Landscape & Memory International Exhibit

April 20 -May 16, 2015

In Cavan Town, Ireland at the Johnston Farnham Gallery an exhibition titled ‘Landscape and Memory’ curated by visual artist Marilyn Gaffney opened in late April. The exhibit coinsides with the Bealtaine Festival 2015 and is comprised of 22 international artists, Courtney Aleise Henderson included. My pieces that were presented included DIamond Head, Old San Juan and Venice life. The exhibit was so well received that the pieces will now be included in another exhibit in Ireland taking place in early June.

WOMEN DO IT! Traveling Art Exhibit With Women’s Caucus For Art

Multiple dates and 7 locations

Seven unique CourtAleise pieces were chosen to be part of the Women Do It! Traveling Art Exhibit. The purpose of this exhibit is to empower women everywhere by using art to highlight things that women do, such as accomplishments, business positions and more.

 

The exhibit began in New York City with the Women’s Caucus Art and College 

Art Association Conferences that took place in February 2015.

 

The next two stops this year are also in New York. First, the UN Commission on the Status of Women Conference, International Caucus from March 9-20, 2015.

Court Aleise Photography was one of the featured artists on an Art Basel yacht cruise. The pieces exhibited were each 16 x 20 canvas, featuring landscapes from Stockholm, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, NYC and South Florida. All pieces are available for sale. Jammin' in the Park

Join me on Saturday April 26th, 2014 for a fun day of Art and Music. It's that time of year for the 6th annual Throw Back Celebrity Golf Weekend and Jammin in the Park Art Fest, hosted by the city of Lauderhill. The event will take place at the Ilene Liberman Botanical Gardens from 2pm until 10 pm.

 

I will have a table with framed art, landscape and cityscape photography on metal and luxury destination greeting cards. Admission and parking are both free. Come check out my work as well as other Fort Lauderdale local artists. I look forwad to seeing you there.

Destination Exhibit: Paris

April 2014

The African American Research Library and Cultural Center in Broward County Florida is having destination themed exhibits from March until the end of the year, with a grand opening the first Friday of each month. The first destination was Mardi Gras and the second was South Africa, premiering March 7 and there will be 2 tickets to visit South Africa raffled off. Paris, France is the destination for the month of April with the grand opening on April 4, featuring CourtAleise Photography. San Paolo Brazil is coming to the AARLCC in June followed by the Greek Isles in September and Ghana in October.

Armory Week in NYC

March 5 - 7, 2014

CourtAleise Photography will be featured Saturday, March 8, 2014 during the Chelsea Day & Brooklyn Night of New York CIty's annual Armory Art Week. The See.Me Exhibition Space is at 26-19 Jackson Ave.Long Island City, NY 11101 and the opening will take place from 7pm until 10pm with wine and live music.  In its sixteen years, The Armory Show has become an international institution, and every March, artists, galleries, collectors, critics and curators from all over the world make New York City their destination.

Brooklyn Night Bazaar

January 2014

CourtAleise Photography was one of the selected"See.Me" artists featured in the month of January at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar. The Bazaar is a night market as well as a concert space that has independent vendors, musicians, artists and chefs. Not only can you enjoy the delicious food while looking at the breathtaking art, but there is also entertainment as well. In addition to concerts there is  black light mini gold and table tennis. It is always free to visit the Bazaar. The address is 165 Banker Street, Brooklyn, New York 11222. They are open Fridays from 7pm until 1am and Saturdays from 6 pm until midnight.

Visual Arts & Music Miami

Visual Arts and Music was a sophisticated evening fused with beautiful artwork and music produced by various artists from South Florida. Courtney A. Henderson was the featured visual artist for the event which took place at Eclectic Miami. African American Resarch Library and Cultural Center

June - July 2013

Courtney was one of four artists invited to display a new exhibit for viewing during the Thurgood Marshall College Fund awards dinner at the African American Research Library and Cultural Cener on June 6th, 2013. TMCF supports and represents nearly 300,000 students attending its 47 member-schools that include HBCUs, medical schools and law schools. Her landscape photography exhibit will remain on display throughout the months of June and July.

 

May 2012

I have had the opportunity to photograph several of the tours for the official Wynwood Artwalk website. Miami's Wynwood Artwalk takes place the 2nd Saturday of every month in Miami's famed art district. More than 60 different art galleries spanning several blocks open for this event. Thousands of people peruse the galleries and outdoor art to view the stunning works of photography, paintings, multimedia fixtures, sculptures, installations, ceramics and more. This event draws artists and art enthusiasts from around the world. I will also be blogging about upcoming events taking place in the infamous Miami Wynwood art district. To stay updated about Wynwood events click Explore.

April 2013

Broward county's most trusted newspaper, the Sun Sentinel, chooses photos from their instagram followers that they feel are representations of something in South Florida. Several of the photos, deemed stunning by the Sun Sentinel photographers are placed on the Sun Sentinel website, others on the official Sun Sentinel instragram page and a select few are also printed in the Lifestyle section of the newspaper.

My photo was chosen for both the website and also published in print on Sunday, April 14, 2013. "University of Miami professor Courtney Henderson takes the opportunity to grade students' papers outdoors in Lauderdale Lakes. "I'm always productive outside," Henderson said.

I had the pleasure of having two of my Fort Lauderdale Beach photos featured in an art show hosted by the Daisy Coffee House. The Daisy Coffee House is a coffee shop in Lauderdale by the Sea that appreciates and supports local artists.

Each month they have new art ranging from photography and painting to sculptures. All of the art featured is the work of local South Florida artists. My work was featured for the month of April.
